The Benefits of Macadamia Nuts Macadamia nuts are very high in selenium, which builds “superoxide dismutase” – the body’s most powerful antioxidant enzyme. The nuts are also unusually high in the beautifying mineral zinc and mostly contain beautifying oils as monounsaturated fat called oleic acid (Omega 9). Oleic acid is beneficial in reducing bad cholesterol and decrease arterial clogging.
Although Macadamia Nuts are high in calories, they contain raw fatty acids that actually activate the body to more efficiently burn fats. As a result less fat accumulates in the tissues, especially around the heart. Macadamia nuts are also the richest natural source of palmitoleic acid, a monounsaturated fatty acid that acts as an antioxidant and also helps to maintain and even restore damaged or burned skin.

The Hawaiian Menehune
The Hawaiian Menehune (meh-neh-HOO-neh) are said to be a people, sometimes described as dwarfs in size, who live in the deep forests and hidden valleys of the Hawaiian Islands. They have lived in the sacred valleys of Hawaii long before others arrived many centuries ago. They love to plant and eat many different types of exotic foods and fruits, which their favorite food is the maiʻa (banana).
The Menehune are known to be magnificent craftspeople. Legends say that the Menehune built temples (heiau), farms, fishponds, trails, roads, canoes, and houses.
